We've made it safely to Massachusetts. As you know we'll be here for the next three years studying at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. It's an academically rigorous school, but we're excited about beginning our studies this September. The twenty four hour trip from Florida was tiring, but we're happy to have arrived in this beautiful state without any mishaps. Bob and Myrna, the older couple from whom we're renting, are very kind. We trooped up the steps and opened the door of our one bedroom apartment and upon the counter was a basket full of snacks and small gifts: a chocolate lobster, coffee and tea. That along with the food we discovered in the fridge made us feel very welcome. Bob and Myrna are a blessing from God.
Over the past few weeks we've been busy meeting new friends and settling into our apartment. During the previous Saturday, Melissa and I found a couch for five dollars while visiting garage sales. The lady said that it sat down in her basement and was never really used, but it had some stains and a few small tears so we went off to Wal-Mart and spent Sunday pinning new fabric to the loveseat. The now earthy green sofa looks great sitting in our living room and it's much better to relax in a well stuffed couch then our "other" living room furniture (folding chairs).
We also have jobs! After creating many resumes, making phone calls, searching and filling out applications, Melissa and I will begin training for our new jobs on Monday. We'll be working for a photography studio, going into schools and photographing children for their year books and student I.D. pictures. It's only a seasonal job, but it will last into December. It will also allow us to own only one car, instead of two, creating one less insurance payment.

Hey Phil,
This is Josh Fluman from the Sheriff's Department in Polk County. I am very glad that you and your wife made it safely to Massachusetts. I hope that ya'll have a great next three years in school and I look forward to reading up on your adventures and stuff in your blogs. Take care and God bless.
Josh
I'm glad everything seems to be going well with you!! I heard that you're not getting as many hours at work as you wish. Matt and I were in the same boat last summer. The first 3 months of marriage are the hardest, and it gets easier after that. I think every couple experiences a time of financial hardship, especially when you're just starting out, and especially if you're starting something new (like a career or starting out at a new school). I wish you all the best and you have my email address. Email me sometime!!
Love,
Tiff
Crikey! One minute I'm searching the web for things on cabbage, and the next I'm reading Arrival in Massachusetts. I'm not sure that's exactlly what I had in mind, Phil Mayer, but I've enjoyed my visit. Now I'm off to try another search on cabbage.
Well, I've enjoyed my visit to Arrival in Massachusetts, but I'm not sure it's what I was looking for. I was actually searching for articles on turkey - these search engines are weird! Just thought I'd say hello while I'm here :0)
Hello Phil Mayer
And G'day from Downunder. I was hunting around the web for stuff on asparagus when I came across Arrival in Massachusetts. It's just amazing what these searches turn up. I'm not sure I'm finding what I need, but I'm having a lot of fun. Have a great day!
Hi Phil Mayer
Look, I hope you don't mind, but I found your blog using how to cook salmon as a search term. I'm trying to find original articles and recipes for my cooking websites.
I can and do use the article directories, but much of the stuff in them is hardly original and gets widely used. I'm hoping to persuade people like you, who have an interest in cooking, to contribute as well. I use a wide variety of articles and styles - just so long as it's food orientated - and I think the kind of things you write about in Arrival in Massachusetts would be very popular :0)
The quid pro quo is a link back to your blog - or website if you have one. If this doesn't interest you, please forgive the intrusion. If it does, I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Michael Sheridan
